Joan Lamote frequently had to audition new musicians for the Barcelona Municipal Band. It is therefore not surprising that he composed works specifically to demonstrate briefly the capabilities of the instrumentalists.
This task of composition for instrumentalists continued into the postwar period, as he was given the post of founding the Valencia Municipal Orchestra.
