Josep Padró Sala started his musical studies at the Conservatory of Manresa. He studied flute with Willy Freivogel, playing as the soloist with different chamber music, jazz and symphonic ensembles. He also studied recorder, founding the Quartet de Flautes Dolces de Manresa, with which he won the national chamber music award Josep M. Ruera.
He graduated in Modern Musical Pedagogy from the Institut Lemmenz, at the University of Lovaina.
He studied harmony and composition, and has written extensively for cobla, choir and chamber ensemble. He has also written educational works with which he has been awarded a number of prizes.

At present, he lives in Manresa.
He mainly works in Catalonia.
In 1976 he became the founder and teaching coordinator of the Centre de Pedagogia Musical Activa Esclat, with the purpose of arousing children’s sensitiveness through music. Modern and traditional music classes were set up here in an innovative way.
In 1982 he became a member of staff of the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Manresa, teaching flute and chamber music, and conducting the Orquestra. He has given various courses to teachers and educators on modern musical pedagogy.
