Katharina Apostolidis was born 1961 in Lübeck, Germany, where she also studied violin at the Musikhochschule under Prof. P. Munteanu (Rumania) and was awarded a diploma in music education. As a factulty member of the Hamburg Conservatory from 1980 - 2003, she not only taught the violin and viola at elementary and intermediate levels, but students at the college level were also under her tutelage.
Mrs. Apostolidis is now a free-lance musician and teacher, whose broad musical spectrum extends from orchestra work with the Kiel Philharmonic (1984-1987) to jazz, rock, pop, international folkore, african-brazilian percussiona and the establishment of her own samba ensemble. She has been creative in integrating new media, improvisation, Ismacology, music kinesiology and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Program) in her musical instruction.
Mrs. Apostolidis authored two articles in the European String Teacher Association Journal: "The process of Learning in the Arts" and "Identity and Crisis of the Musical Experience".
Katharina's active interests include poetry, drawing and photography. As a violinist, lyricist and cover designer, she has also collaborated for the past 15 years on 19 compact disc recordings with her husband, the guitarist and songwriter Nicos Apostolidis.
