Piece in the style of a "Nocturne" dedicated to Núria Ferrer, flute teacher, and friend of the composer. Composed in a modal language (Bb Dorian), it has a ternary-lied A-B-A form structure.
In the B theme, the soloist introduces the Bb Dorian scale moving upward leading to a coda played by the piano, and both are resolved at the end of the piece.
The accompaniment is used in the form of static harmony, and also as a counterpoint element. The harmony causes instability at times because of A theme cells.
At the end of the re-exposition, the melody has great poetic power, which sometimes contrasts with the harmony and builds into moments of great emotional stress.
