Description

This piece was commissioned by the Town Hall of Valencia to be performed in the Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música “Ciutat de València” (International Band Contest, City of Valencia) in the Section of Honor, in 2001. The piece was written to highlight the high artistic level of the great symphonic bands of international prestige.

It is a somewhat complex score, composed of small cells that continue developing until they reach great difficulty both in technique and in performance. Through color and instrumental technique, the author presents excerpts from popular songs to finish in the second theme of the fourth movement with a grandiose and noble melody. The work was very well received both for its content and for the manner in which all the materials are exposed. This magnificent piece of music was recorded on CD by the band that won the First Prize and Honorable Mention in that section.
