Description
Composed in 2011, this is a piece for two sets of multi-percussion and marimba, attendant for “Arena Duet of Percussion”, by Santiago Alejandro Tarrero Gomariz and Manuel Alcaraz Clemente. It was world premiered in the Circo Theatre of Albacete on March 29, 2012, in the “Espacio Escénico” season.
It takes its name from the different rhythms, tempos and timbres which are combined to obtain purple colour, after a complex blend of several colours. For all this, in spite of counting on a heterogeneous group of instruments, the piece exploits and homogenises this aspect in a high degree, in order to achieve a uniform sound. For this, the rhythmical aspect is the conductive thread that facilitates the realisation of these timbric games.
Each set up will have to count on the following indispensable instruments, but there is the possibility to add an indeterminate sound for the execution of the introductory improvisation.
Percussion I: Snare drum, five Tom-toms, Bongo drums, Conga drum, Bell and five Wood blocks.
Percussion II: Bass drum, Bongos, five Tom-toms, Bell, Hit-hat, five Wood blocks and Marimba.
